Love is a Many Varied Thing- February 2023 Performances

​Auditions: Sunday 11/13/22 11am-1:30pm (in-person only at Ballet Vermont in Waterbury, VT)

2022 Choreographers: Avi Waring, Chatch Pregger, Michele Miller, Katy Pyle from Ballez Company (NYC), Kate Sutter from SYREN Dance (NYC).
Rehearsals: End of November through Mid February
Shows:  2/11, 2/12, 2/18, 2/19

​The scope of the show aims to include Eros (romantic love) in several forms but also love between friends, love of community and familial love. We hope to celebrate love in community as movers, lovers and those who are loved. "Love is a Many Varied Thing" is a showcase to be performed around Vermont the weekend of Valentine's day or surrounding.  We will be hiring 10 dancers total for the performance.  Dancers should be strong in the areas of classical and contemporary ballet. 

Info about our choreographers:
Our 5 choreographers for this production are: Avi Waring, Chatch Pregger, Katy Pyle (Ballez Company), Michele Miller and Kate Sutter (SYREN Dance). We are incredibly pleased to welcome two guest artists to Vermont from NYC.  Katy is our featured guest artist from Ballez company in NYC. They will be bringing excerpts from their show “Firebird, a ballez” which is a queer take on the classic ballet.  Kate Sutter will bring her choreography here as part of SYREN Dance’s 20th anniversary tour- where they are collaborating with 20 partners to honor their 20 years in dance. She will be bringing her piece “"Ad Astra Per Aspera". It translates to "To the Stars, through struggle."  It is, quite literally, inspired by a journey to a love that seemed impossible, yet impossible to live without. 

The Farm to Ballet Project- July 2023 Performances
Auditions: 
  • Video Submission (Out of State) Due: noon on Fri 3/3/23 
  • Beginner Adult Audition: Sun 3/5/23 11am-1pm
  • Int.Adv/Pro Adult Audition: Sun 3/5/23 2pm-4pm
  • Youth Audition: Sun 4/2/23 11am-1pm​
Rehearsal Season: Varies based on level of dancers. Beginners/New dancers start as early as March, with returning dancers starting closer to May. Highest level dancers start mid-June.
Production:  Weekends in July 2023 throughout Vermont
The Farm to Ballet Project is a full length story ballet which is about 1 hr 30 min in duration. The choreography is a reinterpretation of many iconic ballet pieces from Giselle, Swan Lake, Bayadere and more- in addition to original choreography by Chatch Pregger. The project performs throughout July at different outdoor venues. The ballet is incredibly joyful. Audience members picnic and lounge on the lawn while enjoying the ballet. This production has a place for adult dancers of all levels. Each year we also audition for 1-2 youth to join the production.
