Ballet Vermont is a body positive company.
We believe that all bodies are capable of being flexible and strong.
Ballet Vermont believes that if you want to be a professional dancer, you shouldn't have to leave the state of Vermont.
We are working hard to make it viable to be a dancer in the state of Vermont. We audition and hire between 20-30 ballet dancers a year to perform in our shows.
Ballet Vermont believes that you can start ballet at any age.
Our company is a mix of dancers who have been dancing anywhere from one year as an adult to professionally trained their whole life. Performance opportunities are made available to those willing to commit to the process of increasing their skill and technique through rigorous practice. Our artistic director casts in ways that highlights each person's best technique at their current level.
If you are interested in joining the company the first thing we are going to say is: start coming to class with Chatch! Even though auditions only happen once or twice a year, you can connect to our community by coming to class anytime. In fact, sometimes we find we need an additional dancer or two as the seasons moves on and we always find them in class. Chatch currently teaches 8 classes a week at Spotlight Vermont located in South Burlington, VT. You can always find his schedule and descriptions on our website.
You don't have to be part of the company to dance with us! If you are looking for a supportive, kind adult ballet community- look no further! If you are looking for a class where you can be taught ballet technique from the beginning, you found the right spot. Chatch values making ballet accessible to adult bodies. If you are looking to reconnect to ballet after years off or after an injury, there are classes that are a great fit for you as well. The descriptions of the classes can help guide you to the right level for you- or you can always send Chatch an email to help get yourself situated.
Join the Company
Our Company is currently producing two ballets:
"Farm to Ballet" and "Bees & Friends." Interested dancers can audition for one of the performances or both. Each production has a different rehearsal schedule and time commitment. We provide a "Dancer Info Packet" upon request so that dancer's can learn more about the experience and commitment before they audition. Our company has different positions: Principal, Soloist, Demi-Soloist and Corps member. Each position has different time commitments, benefits and associated compensation. Auditions typically take place in the spring of each year. All the info you need can be found on our website.
