Our Mission
Ballet Vermont believes in health at every size.
We believe that all bodies are capable of being flexible and strong.
Ballet Vermont believes that if you want to be a professional dancer, you shouldn't have to leave the state of Vermont.
We are working hard to make it viable to be a dancer in the state of Vermont. We audition and hire between 20-30 ballet dancers a year to perform in our shows.
Ballet Vermont believes that you can start ballet at any age.
Our company is a mix of dancers who have been dancing anywhere from one year as an adult to professionally trained their whole life. Performance opportunities are made available to those willing to commit to the process of increasing their skill and technique through rigorous practice. Our artistic director casts in ways that highlights each person's best technique at their current level.

About Us
Now Vermont’s premier classical ballet company, Ballet Vermont started as a passion project to bridge the arts with sustainable agriculture. In 2015, Artistic Director Chatch Pregger and Executive Director Katie Decker dreamed up an event that would bring their favorite art form, classical ballet, to rural towns in Vermont. They envisioned ballet performances that celebrate Vermont’s agricultural history and future by bringing a farm’s ecosystem to life through dance. Thus, the Farm to Ballet Project was born: a series of ballet performances and live music performed outside on farms, entertaining and educating the community while also funding regenerative agriculture projects for the host farms.
The Farm to Ballet Project attracted ballet dancers of all backgrounds, from seasoned professionals to brand new hobbyists. The dance community formed by the Farm to Ballet Project inspired the creation of Ballet Vermont, a school and performing company for adult ballet dancers. Ballet Vermont provides a path for professional ballet dancers and musicians in Vermont to collaborate and produce Vermont-based original works of ballet, including our premier show, the Farm to Ballet Project. Ballet Vermont’s mission is to provide high-quality, inclusive, and joyful ballet to the community.
